Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Water

This line was made famous by the sequel to the Jaws movie, Jaws II. The all clear was sounded and it was time to go back to the beach. Until it wasn’t! Does Covid feel like that? Maybe it is OK to start travelling again, going places, sharing with others? Until it isn’t. As posted in Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, we have cancelled all the reservations thru LA, MS, AR, 4th of July in Branson, SD, Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, and Vegas.

We held on to the very first reservation we made (even before we owned a motor home) for the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, hoping that by the first week in October, it would be a go. The plan was to run across I-40 and join the fun. Two weeks ago they cancelled the Fiesta until 2021. With that last hope gone, we’ve cancelled all remaining reservations and are hoping to recreate the itinerary next year.

Since we are just staying where we are, we have upgraded our site and are now on the edge of the lake. (see photos on Post Cards From The Road 2020) The additional monthly cost is less than a few tanks of fuel but it is really a treat. The sunrise and sunsets over the lake are spectacular! We haven’t moved but a few yards but the view is so very different. Even at night!

I would love to start making reservations for next year, with plans to go where we didn’t get to go last year – SD, WY, UT, NV, AZ, TX and back to FL for the Winter. But we still don’t know IF or WHEN it would be safe to travel again. We have friends who are out there, and follow others online, and they are not experiencing COVID sicknesses. Inconvenience yes, but sickness, no. So we will continue to shelter in place, staying safe and wearing a mask. We are hoping our friends are safe as well and waiting for it to be safe to go back in the water!

  2. Hi Paul, just read your latest post, sorry to hear you’ve had to cancel “all” your plans this year but, very happy to hear you two are staying safe and you haven’t killed each other yet. We have been hunkered down here and both doing okay. There have been a couple of cases here in PP.
