Our second stop on the GOAT Tour 2021 was Camp Lake Jasper in Hardeeville, South Carolina. Jasper is a small community located just North of the Georgia border. It is a convenient place to stop if you want to visit Hilton Head SC, Beaufort SC or Savannah GA, and avoid the crowds.
The campground is conveniently located just miles off I-95 but feels like you are miles away from it all. It is aptly named as it feels like a camp. It is smaller with just over one hundred sites, is lakeside which offers fishing and kayaking, and has walking trails around the lake which lead to the Sergeant Jasper Park next door. It is also not far from the Savannah National Wildlife Area.
The campground can best be described as pristine! The sites are well spaced with many pull-thrus for longer rigs, towing when you don’t want to unhook, or just overnight stays to get off the road. The laundry room, showers and pool area are spotless, and the grounds are meticulously maintained.
When we laid out this trip, we started with “how far is it from X to Y,” decided to keep the distances shorter than three hundred miles, then we looked at “what is in the area,” checked campground reviews, and decided how many days we would want to stay at each stop. The goal this trip was to improve on our first trip and stay longer at each place and not rush around the country. Since we have already visited Beaufort and Savannah, this stop is for three nights to just relax backed up to the lake.
The photos are posted on the Post Cards 2021 page above. You get to that page and all the other pages thru menu. (I can’t put them in a blog post) On to Longs, South Carolina!
Hello Paul, so enjoy your posts. Just don’t know how to get to the pictures.
Thank you!
